Competition Rules

Awarding 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Place Medals for Team, Kids per competitive group, and each Female & Male per competitive group

1. Competitors must wear their designated race bibs visibly.
   
2. Competitors must keep their wristband on throughout race. Teams receive a Green Wristband while Competing Individuals & Kids receive a Purple Wristband.
   
3. Donut Challenge: Teams & Individuals must eat 12 doughnuts & Kids must eat 4 doughnuts.
   • Failure to complete donut challenge results in an automatic disqualification from placing.
4. Collect and wear a #Race4Wanza Donut Challenge Rubber Band before heading to the finish line. This will confirm you've successfully completed the doughnut challenge!
   • Competing Team's can not leave Krispy Kreme until the donut challenge is completed.
     
   • A Competing Team's race time will be based on the last team member's time when crossing the finish line. So, if you are a team of 4 and 3 of you cross in 45mins and the last person crosses at 59mins your Team's finishing time is 59mins. 
     
   • Teams consist of a Min of 2 and Max of 6ppl per team
     
5. See Grounded Running Kiosk for your results and then await awards ceremony/announcements. Highly suggest team members gather together at the finishing.

 

FAQ

Who is considered a "Child" vs "Individual" registration?

A "child" registration is considered ages 5 - 15 years old and an "individual" registration is anyone 16+ years old.

 

My child is under 5 years old must they register to race?

Children under 5 years old do not have to register and may participate in the race but will not receive a swag bag.

 

Are children and strollers allowed?

Yes, this is a FAMILY FRIENDLY event! We even have face painters and a jumping castle.

 

What time should I arrive?

Registration starts at 7:30am with Can't Stop Training’s “morning stretch” beginning at 8:30am. We plan to commence the race at 9am.

 

Can I register after the March 17th Guaranteed shirt, medal & swag bag registration deadline?

Yes, website registration is available until April 21st and then you can register in-person the day of. You can also register the day of the race using credit/debit card, Cash App, Venmo or Paypal. NO CASH TRANSACTIONS!

 

If I register after March 17th will I still get a swag bag & T-Shirt?

Most likely, YES size not guaranteed. We only order T-Shirts based on total registrations at the guaranteed deadline. If we purchase too many t-shirts = less scholarships funds and less good works for the community. We will have a limited amount of Shirts/Medals for sale.

 

What’s included with registration?

Race4Wanza Doughnut Dash T-Shirt, race medal, race number, swag bag, and freshly glaze Krispy Kreme doughnuts!

 

What’s the difference between Competing & Non-Competing registration?

Competing individuals/teams MUST eat a dozen doughnuts and run/walk back; competing kids MUST eat 4 doughnuts.

 

What if I want to compete but do not want to eat all of the doughnuts?

You should register as a non-competing racer. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DONUT CHALLENGE DO NOT REGISTER AS A COMPETITOR

 

How many people can I have on a team?

Competition Teams can have a minimum of 2 members with a max of 6 team members. Click here to learn how to create or be added to your team. Team must be set-up by Team Captain first for you to join.

 

How are the Competitive Team winners decided?

A competing team’s race time will be determined by the finish time of the last team member to cross the line. For example, if you're a team of 4 and 3 members finish in 45 minutes, but the last member finishes in 59 minutes, your team’s official time will be 59 minutes. Don't forget to have fun—try to color coordinate or go with a themed look!

 

How are you collecting times & when will they be provided?

We have partnered with Grounded Running to automatically track race finishing times. Participants race performance results (overall time, overall place, pace per mile, age division) and photos will be provided on this website under the Results tab.

 

Will I be able to get my finish time instantly?

Yes, just visit Grounded Running's Result Kiosk where participants can print off the stats of their individual performance (time, pace per mile, speed, overall rank, age division rank, etc) on a label that you can stick to your bib or in your training log.

 

What are the individual competitive groups?

Where should I park?

The race begins in the rear parking lot of the South Windermere Shopping Center (61 Windermere Blvd, Charleston, SC 29407). PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE SPACES INFRONT OF 3 LITTLE BIRDS. They are not supporters of the race and we do not want to hinder their business.

 

Are there bathrooms at the start of the race?

Yes, our sponsors at Kids Garden are allowing us access to their restroom facilities and there are bathrooms at the midway point, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. PLEASE DO NOT ASK TO USE 3 LITTLE BIRDS FACILTIES! They are not supporters of the race and we do not want to hinder their business.

 

Where do the proceeds from the race go?

100% back into the #Race4Wanza Fund! After all expenses of the event have been settled, the remaining fund allows us to award $6,000 in scholarships and start preparing for the next year.

 

What is the race path?

We start in the rear parking lot, run/walk through the South Windermere Neighborhood until we reach the West Ashley Greenway, continue down the trail until we arrive at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. We then enjoy doughnuts and return the same way to the finish line. View Race Course Map tab

 

Are pets Allowed?

Yes, if they are on a leash.
